ONE-ROOM
SCHOOL MUSEUM
The
Hornbine School, built about one hundred and sixty years ago, remains
nestled
between original stone walls, at its initial location.
Inside
the school, there are old books and pictures on display, an original
black board
(a board painted black) and original student’s desks from Rehoboth,
Dighton and
Vermont.
Visitors will
view an old
teacher’s desk. This was used in the
old
Palmer River School (District #8) on Mason Street in Rehoboth. It was
donated
by Mrs. Arthur Hunt.
Young visitors will enjoy using horn books, slates, feather pens, and several old games.
The Sanitary is
always an object
of fascination for the young.
